Effect of normalization on ductility and corrosion resistance of API 5L-X65 PIPE

This research studies the effect of normalization on ductility and corrosion resistance API 5L X65 pipe. Normalization conducted at a temperature 900 °C with holding time 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 minutes, followed by cooling down to room using an external air. Corrosion testing normalized specimens was performed seawater as corrosive environment, -and were also tested for microhardness determine their mechanical properties. Then, these test compared that did not undergo in terms microstructure, hardness, other The analyzed Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) Spectroscopy microstructure grain boundary, chemical composition microcracking metal specimens. results showed base hardness steel pipe fluctuated tended decrease. highest obtained without normalizing, lowest normalizing rate occurred normalizing. Typical APL 5L-65 are cracking pitting.
